Dylan Mitro is an Independent Filmmaker / Photographer based in Toronto, Canada. Dylan has had a career spanning in Music videos with a multitude of artists, two short documentary series with Canon and Redbull Music. Dylan’s narrative short films have screened at BFI Flare, Inside Out, Frameline Film Festival, and more. Dylan’s photography has been featured in Paper Magazine, Office Magazine, Highsnobriety, Boooooom and more.
Dylan started their career Directing Music Videos, collaborating with musicians such as Fleece, BabyGirl, Quarterback Baby, Ruby Waters, and Valley. Dylan’s story telling blends a colourful palette of Art Direction and Costume Design to create compelling and nostalgic fantasy worlds..
Dylan’s directed multiple successful short films. Their film“Ripples” was the recipient of the Refocus fund and premiered at Inside Out in 2022, going on to play festivals internationally. Dylan has been supported by Canada Arts Council for research and development of their debut feature film which is currently in early development.
Dylan blends the “grit” of Documentary style photography with an array of colorful Art Direction and Costume Design. Dylan started their photography career by bringing their 35mm camera into the Queer nightlife scene In Toronto, using it as a tool to connect with their community. Dylan was capturing BTS photographs of their film sets as a way to try to capture the brief moments the set was alive, as a sort of time capsule.
Dylan’s work has been featured in Paper Magazine, Office Mag, and other publications. Their work has been featured as magazine covers, and billboards in downtown Toronto.
