“Gloss Gallery” is a retrospective of Dylan Mitro’s photography.
Exploring themes of Kinship, love and Pleasure as aesthetic principles, Dylan aims to showcase the duality of these brighter emotions with deeper narratives of Grief and discomfort juxtaposed within the work.
Fantasy, nostalgia, and queerness are all guiding principles which shape and unify Dylan’s signature storytelling style.
Dylan blends the “grit” of Documentary style photography with an array of colorful Art Direction and Costume Design.
Dylan started capturing BTS photographs of their film sets as a way to try to capture the brief moments the set was alive, as a sort of time capsule.
Dylan started their photography career by bringing their 35mm camera into the Queer nightlife scene In toronto, using it as a tool to connect with their community.
Dylan is all too familiar with pushing the boundaries of how to capture stories that seem surreal. With photographers such as Wolfgang Tillmans, Alex Prager and Nan Goldin inspiring Dylan's work.
